Developing the website and brand identity of an open source intelligence research company
Khthon was looking to achieve a more consistent and professional look. What started with a website redesign soon grew into a whole rebrand that meant rethinking the organisation’s visual identity.
Working together with the marketing, HR and operations, GIS, and research teams, we created a visual language that balances seriousness, flexibility, and aesthetics.
The redesign achieved consistency across all the organisation’s channels and communications, and streamlined the creation of social media, research and web content. Traffic to the website has since increased by 50% and maintained engagement with the research.

As the organisation is run by volunteers, there were challenges like intermittent communication, and constant team turnover that required adaptability and flexibility. The most significant learning opportunity came from advocating for UX design’s strategic value, educating stakeholders, establishing evidence-based decision-making processes, and positioning design expertise as integral to the organisation.
